The problem is priorities, not money

By the end of 2007, the Bush Administration will have spent $379 billion on the war and occupation of Iraq. To pay for this illegal war, the Bush Administration has cut billions of dollars in federal financial aid for college students, robbed our public schools of needed money, slashed health services for veterans and gutted job training programs for youth. By prioritizing war and profit making, this Administration has put the future of our entire generation in peril.

Think for a second, what could we have done with that $379 billion dollars? Instead of spending it on a needless war, the decision makers could have:

This fall, I pledge to join other young people in educating, organizing and mobilizing youth to vote "Books Not Bombs" on November 7th. We demand that our elected officials stop cutting our financial aide, stop under funding our schools and stop slashing veteran's health benefits. We demand alternatives to military service and end to military recruiters in our schools. I am joining other young people across the country in saying NO to war and YES to peace, jobs for youth and money for education.
